The Bowsprit

Some ships have bawdy mermaids to decorate their prow. This ship has a

simple, angular carving of a knight in full armor, armed with lance and

shield. It is carved out of a single piece of some dark hardwood, and is

polished to a fine sheen so that it glistens under the sun and the light

reflected from waves.
