Rooms

The most notable sensation upon entering the temple is one of turbid heat

that descends like a thick blanket, offering no semblance of comfort and

becoming more intense with every passing moment. The inner chamber is small

and bears no profligate decoration. The dull gray marble of the walls is

covered with carvings - flames lick the stones like fire upon water,

flickering with sanguine red and dusky golden hues. Tortured and

despondent, the phantom faces of condemned souls fade in and out of the

flames as they anticipate the judgment of Mencius, the Lord of this macabre

shrine. The burning heat threatens to drag you to your knees upon the

marble floor and engulf you completely in an unholy rage. At the center of

the room stands a stunning statue of formidable proportions, and behind it a

mural spans the entirety of the northern wall, depicting the brutal massacre

and destruction of a crumbling city.
