Rooms

  The sun glares down onto the canyon's red rocks.  A stifling breeze whips

through at all times, scouring the litter of stones of sand and dust. 

Decrepit-looking, leafless plants cling tenaciously to the shade in any

available nook.  Heat rises up from the uneven, stony ground threatening

even the most well-protected feet.  The canyon widens significantly at its

northern end, allowing a view of yet more rock ahead.
