Rooms

  Each pace along the entry stairwell grows darker, until it at last opens

onto the platform of a large domed room.  Carpeted stairs descend to a

series of sunken concentric ringed landings where each forms a corridor

around the perimeter of the room lined with rows of tall shelves interspaced

with the occasional table and chairs.  Gently floating amethyst crystals

cast a subdued light throughout the chamber and guide the descent down to

the observatory's innermost circle.  The reflective black marble floor

gleams beneath the moonlight which filters in through the chill of an

open-air oculus centered within the dome.  The coffered domed structure

glistens with black enchantment, absorbing nearly every ray of ambient

light.  Impossibly dark, the eldritch sky of tenebrous black crawls by

overhead.  An obelisk of dark agate crackles occasionally with an arcane

current, situated precisely below the center of the oculus.  Low black

pillows invite observers to kneel or recline as is their desire beneath the

sidereal night above.
