A Gaping Hole in the Tunnel

Description

  This natural hole within the tunnel was once a pocket of air in the

heavy-flowing river of lava that ran through the volcano, and has now become

dry and porous.  The visible intrusion has the smell of volcanic gases

despite the many years since the rock had been lava-like.  The hole is

sudden, but narrows back to resume a tunnel-like functions some yards ahead.
