Rooms

  This large dormitory creates the sleeping quarters for the students

living at the maktab.  The front and center part of the room has been filled

with colorful woven woolen rugs and pillows to create a space where the

youths can sit, talk, study, and play games together.  The edges of the room

have been partitioned off into various sectors by colorful wall hangings,

painted wooden and silk screens.  The walls dividing the room have a space

at the top near the ceiling filled by a decorative wooden lattice to allow

for air to circulate around the area.  Along the walls of the dormitory

room, mostly obscured by the various partitions, are neatly arrayed bunk

beds.  Small wooden chests are beside each bed for storage.  A sturdy

bookshelf has been piled with various games, picture books and novels. 

Arched windows looking out to the courtyards of the maktab and temple

grounds let in air and light.  The arched doorway to the north leads out to

the courtyard garden area.
